Film Review

Film name: English Vinglish
Director    : Gouri Shinde

English Vinglish is an Indian comedy- drama film released on 2012. Its direction, screen play and story were written by Gauri Shinde herself. The entire story revolving around Marathi home maker 'Shashi Godbole' (Sridevi). Usually our Indian ladies are unaware about their education and our social systems gave importance to their family role. Society makes them to feel that they are meant to run the family. So they are also unaware about their education and development. Shashi was such a lady who represent the whole Indian homemakers.
The initial part of the film shows what a woman suffers in herown family. She finds her joy in the well being of her family. She is excellent in her cooking, but nobody encouraged her talent but criticize it. Her executive husband (Adil Hussain) mocks at her saying she is born to make Laddoo. Like all other Indian husbands, he wants her to satisfy his needs. He was unaware about her happy, feelings and tastes. He mocks her because of her illitaracy in English language. Even her daughter treats her as a foolish one.
In the later stage of the film, she herself made a change to know what was happening around her. It was happened after she went to USA for attending in a marriage function, where she was helped by her niece Radha. She joined in a tuition class to learn English. She felt happy when she was in her class with diverse people who gave respect and love towards her. She regained a freedom which she lost after her marriage. Later she showed her family that she was no more inferior than others and her family accepts her talent.
This film has some similarities with the other faminist film 'Queen'. Both show how a woman treats in various sections of society and the stages of their development. One film focus on how a woman is treated by young modern man and the other stress the issues inside her family and how important is education to a woman. Both won its aim. Eventhough, 'English Vinglish' is different in some aspects. when it comes to a woman oriented issue, sexuality is highlighted. Discussions were done for strenghthening of sexulity. Women of our society is connected with other problems also. It won't be discussed either. Here, protagonist understood her weak point herself and she develps it and became the centre point in her family. She hasn't overthrown her identity and culture for achieving her goal. Woman empowerment doesn't mean to accept other culture and identity but to improve herself within her identity and strengthening it.Reverse case  was happened in the film 'Queen'. Protagonist accepts another cultue which was entirely different from herown one and accepts new identity. She did it due to her fiancie's passion towards that culture. She could have to develop within her identity like shashi does in 'English Vinglish'.
" Feminism isn't about making woman stronger. Women are already stronger. It's about changing the way the world perceives that strength." - G.D Anderson

"It's a LAKSHADWEEPIAN FOOD!!!!"

There is a story behind this title and it has some connection with my cooking. I used to cook something for the evening tea. That particular day was special to me because it was my first wedding aniversary day. So I planned to make a cake on that day. I'm not at all well in cooking, eventhough I usually get good results from its taster. I usually made some mistakes while cooking and that particular mistakes help me to find some other dishes.
Here also, my planning was to make an egg cake, but my final result was another one. I couldn't use pressure cooker for some reasons and my ideas leads me to that dish. With the same available ingrediants I completed my new dish successfully. I hadn't given a name for it till it reaches dining table. For my new dish I used,
  Egg            - 4 nos
Milk             - 1/2 cup
Sugar          - 3 teaspoon
Cardamom - 2 nos
Cashewnut- 6 nos
I beat four eggs for ten minutes. Then added milk, sugar and cardamon into it and again beat it for another ten minutes. I poured the mixture into each column of 'iddli cooker' after applying some ghee in it. Then cooked it for 15 minutes. Atlast, my new dish became ready within 35 minutes and I served it with cashew topping.
The dish got a quick fame in my family and everyone of the family enquired about its name. So I gave them a quick reply that "its a lakshadweepian dish and its name is LAKSHADWEEPIAN EGG IDDLI!!!!!!!"

THE ART OF COOKING

If somebody ask me what's my favourite art, I can't give them a proper reply, because I used to find some beauty in every art. I've some taste in every art, even though they didn't conjunct with me. I've some taste in drawing, in photography and music, but I didn't get any coaching for all these. So I'm not at all confident in all these areas.
I started to cook food after my marriage. I was feared to present my first prepared food before my family. I prepared 'kheer' for them, because there was a belief that, if we prepare sweet as our first dish to our husbant's family, then our future life with them will be sweeter. Also first dish will decide our future. For my wondor, my dish gave me better result. So my confident level increased with my interest. Without any coaching I found out the inner taste inside me. Then I tried to improve my taste in different 'Tastes'.
At first I used to prepare common foods. Later, I made 'researches' in the art of cooking. I prepare varieties and named it, and I got good results for all these. 'Kappa payasam', 'Lakshadweepian egg iddli', 'Biscut cake', 'tamarind juice', 'chickoo pudding', 'banana with grind coconut cake', ' potato vada', 'Avil Laddoo' are some of them.
Later, I added some additional flavours to food and made it more delicious. Now, I'm busy in my research to prepare 'healthy foods'. I used to allow others to taste my dishes and comment on it, because I'm confident in my cooking.
For me,
        " Kitchen is my Laboratory,
          Utensils are my test tubes,
          Vegitables & fruits are my
           raw materials,
          Food is my invention,
          And I'm the inventor."

LOVE OF BEAUTY IS TASTE, CREATION OF BEAUTY IS ART

moon magic

Mike mezeull - A photographer spent 5 hours on a rooftop with an incredible view of Dallas and was able to create this composite image showing the moons transition from full moon, to full lunar eclipse, and back. Each moon image was shot approximately 10 minutes apart to capture the entire transition.
